Skill 08-18
The following cooking recipes will raise your crafting skill from level eight to level eighteen (8.0 - 18.0). Be sure to take your test between level eighteen and level twenty. If you do not take your test, you will not be able to get past level twenty. The synthesis test item for level twenty is Pea Soup.

These are wonderful because they are typically very cheap at the AH if you prefer to buy them and even cheaper from the NPCs on the ferries.
I recommend buying them from the merchants on the ferry that goes between Selbina and Mhaura and also the ferry between Whitegate and Nashmau (most of the time only at certain hours and many times in only one direction though). If you go the ferry route you can also catch sardines along the way - just bring along a rod and a sabiki rig. With the sabiki rig you can catch between 1-3 sardines at a time. Sardines cap at fishing level 10. This gives you many options for getting these fish easily so you can keep skilling your cooking. Sliced Sardines will not sell too fast or too well at the AH, however you may get some to sell. You could use them for fishing yourself or simply sell them back to a vender or the fishing guild. Depending on how you acquire the fish, you may break-even from the guild or vender when you sell it back. |

This is chocobo feed for baby chicks. If you plan on raising a chocobo, this might be a great alternative for you to skill up on. Some of the ingredients are expensive to make this recipe, you will have to do careful analyzing to see if you feel the risk is worth making this recipe. It could be a profitable recipe, but do not forget you will not get any HQs and you will break often (as is normal while skilling up any craft). Breaks can mean the difference between profit and loss, plan carefully based on your servers current prices, supplies and demand. |

This skilling stretch will require you to get advanced synthesis support in Windurst. This recipe caps at level 20, but I only did it until level 18. If you get to level 18 and feel you would like to make a larger stock of this recipe you could keep going to 20.
The butter levels are both a pain and a blessing. If you have a lot of storage, you will want to be prepared to use it. As tempting as it is to sell all of this butter, save as much as possible - you will need it again when you start making pie dough and pies. Saving the butter will save you money on several recipes along the way, because even though the stacks are cheap at the AH, you can make them much cheaper yourself. Other than storage, the other problem here is money. You will be investing into this recipe with no immediate profit. Even with advanced synth support, you will find you break often, which is also another money loss. However when you begin making pies you will find yourself rewarded with the sales results. |

*You can use Woozyshrooms, Danceshrooms or Sleepshrooms for this recipe. You cannot mix the 'shrooms but all three (in quantities of two per synth) will work for the skilling of this recipe.
If you buy the ‘shrooms you will likely find yourself making a huge loss on this recipe. However if you enjoy farming Funguar (a great amount of them can be found close together in Carpenter’s Landing or in Crawler’s Nest) then this recipe might be a great alternative to get past some of the Selbina butter levels. You will still make plenty of butter from 16-18 and with less breaks if you take this route. Also if you farm these ingredients you will likely find yourself making profit at the AH on the roast mushrooms. |
